Aeternum is currently developing a number of Energy Parks in
the UK.
Sustainable, integrated recycling and renewable energy schemes
are urgently required in the UK if we are to make the transition to
a low carbon economy. Presently, schemes like this typically rely
on PFI contracts and on single technologies (usually simple
incineration), which are problematic and create by-products
requiring further treatment.
Aeternum's Energy Parks, a common concept in Northern Europe and
Scandinavia, are a fully integrated facility to completely
eliminate the need for landfill, taking the materials that would be
buried and turning them into either re-useable products or energy
and heating for local industry and homes.
The Energy Park brings together recycling and biomass renewable
energy creation, firstly separating materials, then creating green
electricity, re-useable heat and output products through material
recovery.
Aeternum is committed to a complete recycling and
remanufacturing process at Castleford and this would be the first,
sustainable, zero-waste, low carbon Energy Park of its kind in the
UK.
In total the UK produces about 330 million tonnes of waste a
year, a quarter of which is from homes and business.
Aeternum's vision for its Energy Parks is a commitment to
deliver community-led solutions to waste in an integrated,
innovative, and sustainable way. Our sites are typically of a
'regional scale' and offer significant regeneration opportunities
through private investment and skilled long term employment for its
communities.
