Biodiesel
Aeternum currently operate one of the UK's most advanced
Biodiesel production facilities. The plant was acquired in 2010
and, following 18 months of trials and investment, is now fully
operational. Aeternum and its partners are investing to expand the
plant capacity from 50,000 tonnes to 145,000 tonnes over the next
18 months. Aeternum will also make a significant investment in
joint ventures to ensure upstream feedstock sustainability and
security ensuring 'end to end integration' of the business.
Biomass
Primary Biomass
Aeternum are focused on making joint venture investments into a
diverse range of forestry and timber-processing businesses,
ensuring at all times quality, sustainability and security of its
biomass supply chain. Aeternum, utilizing its forestry experience,
aims to be the UK's largest supplier of sustainable biomass to both
the industrial and domestic sectors.
Recovered Biomass
Aeternum are evaluating businesses with proven recycling
technologies to locate or joint venture their operations within its
Energy Villages to create multiple, sustainable sources of clean,
biomass recovered from commercial, municipal and industrial waste
streams which can be used in its biomass power plants or supplied
to other dedicated or co-firing generators.
Biomass Fuel Processing
By harnessing a domestic and international supply chain and
working in partnership with its industry partners, Aeternum is
planning to develop the UK's largest dedicated biomass pellet mill.
The planned facility will have a capacity of up to 500,000 tonnes
utilizing both Aeternum's primary and recovered biomass. Using a
patented technology, developed by Aeternum's industry partners,
will allow the production of pellets that surpass durability,
density, moisture and energy content of any other pellet currently
produced.
Recycling
Aeternum are developing three Energy Villages across the UK. The
first to be announced is a planned 600,000 tonne per annum Resource
Recovery Plant at Castleford. Aeternum's remaining Resource
Recovery sites are currently in planning and will recover over an
additional 1,000,000 tonnes per annum of recyclates and secondary
biomass.
Aeternum's Integrated Energy Villages
At the heart of Aeternum's Biofuels and Recycling strategy is
the Energy Village Concept.
Aeternum's Energy Villages, a common concept in Northern Europe
and Scandinavia, are a fully integrated resource recovery facility
to completely eliminate the need for landfill, taking the materials
that would be buried and turning them into either re-useable
products or energy and heating for local industry and homes.
The Energy Village brings together recycling and biomass renewable
energy creation, firstly separating re-useable materials and clean
biomass, then creating green electricity, re-useable heat and
output products through material recovery.
The proposed investment programme across each facility is in
excess of £400M creating hundreds of permanent skilled jobs in each
location.
Oil Storage
Aeternum are currently implementing a plan to develop a further
150,000 tonnes of bulk oil storage capacity. The facility is
capable of storing a variety of liquids and plans are in disussion
to link the storage directly to the UK pipeline network.
